The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is hosting their first annual "Name A Snowplow Contest," MassDOT announced on Monday, Nov. 28.
Students from grades K-8 are encouraged to submit names for 12 state-owned snowplows for the upcoming 2022/2023 winter season, MassDOT said.
The winners, half between Kindergarten and fourth grade and half between fifth and eighth grade, will be chosen by a panel of MassDOT employees.
“The contest is a great way for younger students to take some time to have fun, be creative, work together to identify proposed names and be part of a new state government initiative," said MassDOT Secretary & CEO Jamey Tesler. "We encourage all statewide schools to participate.”
Students have until 5 p.m. on Friday Dec. 23 to apply and winners will be announced on Friday, Jan. 26. Submissions can be sent by clicking here.
